Getting your test results
If your test results show that you need more tests or treatment, we will contact you.
Once a doctor has reviewed your test results, you can view them:
- in your NHS account (through the NHS website or NHS App)
- in your SystmOnline account
- by phoning us on 01242 602 307 and we will tell you what the results are
- as a text message, if you have consented and it is applicable
If your test was not requested by the surgery, please contact the provider directly.
Your results will take a minimum of 48 hours and up to 1 week to come back to the surgery and be checked by a doctor. Anything requiring urgent attention will be highlighted by the laboratories.
- blood results will take up to 7 working days to return to the surgery
- x-ray and Stool Results will take up to 14 days to return to the surgery
- nail cuttings and other cultures can take up to 6 weeks
- cervical cytology results (smears) will be posted to you. Please allow at least 4 weeks for these results to be received
Specimens
If you are asked to provide a specimen, please bring it in the sterile leak-proof container provided, to the surgery before 3:30pm for dispatch to the laboratory. Please ensure the container is clearly labelled with your name, date of birth and date and time of sample.
