Winchcombe Medical Centre

Winchcombe Medical Centre is pleased to announce that we are now a research practice. We have teamed up with the Primary Care Research Network and are supporting research by the University of Oxford.

Current Studies we are participating in:

CONDUCT: This study will compare different ways of collecting urine samples from women with symptoms of urinary tract infection to find the best way of avoiding these samples becoming contaminated. 


HOMEBP: Does self monitoring your blood pressure at home and using online support give greater control over your blood pressure compared to routine appointments for blood pressure at your surgery?

StartRight: The purpose of this study is to improve diagnosis of diabetes type and so improve treatment. The study is open to anyone who has been newly diagnosed with Diabetes within the last year and is aged between 18-50 years. Patients will be seen at the Gloucester Royal Hospital for this study.


APPLAUD: Attitudes and Preferences of People regarding Long term Antidepressant use for Depression. This study is undertaken by postal questionnaire survey and interview.


CLASP: This study aims to develop a web-based intervention in the form of self-management support for a healthy lifestyle and improved mood that will help increase the quality of life. Patients will take part for a year and be randomised into one of three groups to receive access to an intervention website or access to the website and nurse support or they may be in the control group.
