If you are registered with our practice and require any vaccinations relating to foreign travel, you need to complete a travel questionnaire and hand it into reception. We will then contact you to make an appointment with the practice nurse to discuss your travel arrangements. This will include which countries and areas within countries that you are visiting to determine what vaccinations are required.
There is further information about countries and vaccinations required on the links below:
It is important to make this initial appointment as early as possible, at least six weeks before you travel, as a second appointment will be required with the practice nurse to actually receive the vaccinations. These vaccines have to be ordered as they are not a stock vaccine. Your second appointment needs to be at least two weeks before you travel to allow the vaccines to work. Please be aware that from 1st June 2019 the medical centre will no longer be offering non-NHS travel vaccines to enable our staff to concentrate on providing core NHS services.
We will continue to provide NHS vaccines when required and our nurses will provide information to help patients with their decisions on non-NHS travel vaccines but the patients will need to use an external travel clinic/service for these. The following travel vaccines are currently available free on the NHS: polio (given as a combined diphtheria/tetanus/polio jab<https://www.nhs.uk/conditions/vaccinations/3-in-1-teenage-booster/>), typhoid<https://www.nhs.uk/conditions/typhoid-fever/vaccination/>, hepatitis A<https://www.nhs.uk/conditions/hepatitis-a/vaccination/> and cholera<https://www.nhs.uk/conditions/cholera/vaccination/>.
These vaccines are free because they protect against diseases thought to represent the greatest risk to public health if they were brought into the country.
